Pronounced, "and therapy", our name refers to the concept of dialectics. This is the cornerstone of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
What are Dialectics?
A dialectic is a concept that refers to two or more things being true at the same time, even if they seem like opposites. This can sometimes create tension, or a paradox, that can be helpful in understanding other perspectives.
Why are Dialectics Important?
Allowing for there to be more than one perspective in any situation enables us to reduce conflict with ourselves and others. It shifts us from thinking in black-and-white, and the need for things to be right or wrong, and helps us find a middle path to create change in our lives. Rather than approaching things with the perspective of "either-or", we can learn to view things from a lens of "both-and". This is where our name comes from.
